Welcome to the WACO PTO page. Thank you for being a part of a wonderful organization that is vital to our elementary school community.
The WACO PTO is an independent non-profit organization, which operates outside the district’s legal authority.
Staff Requesting Donation Form
WACO PTO plays a very important role.
WACO PTO:
- Gifts money to teachers each year for their classroom
- Sponsors multiple class field trips
- Organizes meals for Parent/Teacher conferences twice each year
- Organizes gifts for American Ed Week and Teacher Appreciation week
- Hosts a Santa Shop
- Purchases 100’s of books for R.A.M.M. (Read A Million Minutes)
- Hosts an Annual Literacy Night
- Purchases snacks during Iowa Testing for kids
- Hosts a year-end celebration for the students
- And much more……
Without the WACO PTO, teachers and students would lose great support. It is important that we keep PTO strong. We encourage parents to participate in any way that they can.
The WACO PTO Mission Statement:
We believe in and will emphasize the importance of parents as partners and supporters in the education process. The PTO will work to promote and provide assistance in the areas of educational support; social events; fund-raising; district representation and parent involvement in the WACO Elementary School.
We are parents and teachers working together to better our school and community to ensure a safe, productive, and enjoyable environment for our children and their families to live and grow.
The PTO will be a positive, independent group. We will work in conjunction with WACO staff, Administration and parents.

All meetings are held at City Hall in Wayland on the first Monday of the month from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. unless noted.
Membership: All parents, staff, and residents of the WACO district are welcome to become members of the PTO. No membership dues required

The WACO PTO hosts and sponsors the following events and needs each year:
- Teacher Bucks- $100 to each teacher to use in their classroom. That's around $2400.00 each year!
- Back to School Breakfast- Our teachers are busy, and they need fuel too. PTO, through donors who sign up provides breakfast items for the staff.
- Parent/Teacher Conference Meals October and March- Each semester donors may sign up to provide dinner items for staff to eat during long nights of Parent/Teacher Conferences.
- Class Field Trip funding- PTO donates $200.00 to pre-school field trips each year and around $500.00 for the Annual 6th grade Ski Trip.
- Concessions Fundraising
- WYAA Volleyball Tournament
- WYAA Wrestling Tournament
- American Education Week & Teacher Appreciation Week gifts-organizing gift donations to Education, Transportation, and Elementary Staff, honoring them for all they do throughout the school year.
- Santa Shop- Students are able to shop for family members at the Annual Santa Shop. Organized and ran by the PTO. Students are able to practice simple math skills and learn the valuable life lesson of giving. The Shop is a safe, supervised environment.
- R.A.M.M (Read A Million Minutes)- Reading, a lifelong skill and PTO helps support this by providing books for students to keep. Coach Sloth Order From
- Literacy Night- A social evening meal \ for families to come together to celebrate literacy. PTO provides games, crafts, and books for this event.
- Snack for Iowa Testing- Keeping young brains fueled during testing is proven to help students excel in testing.
- Year-End Celebration- A "Last day of School" celebration! Games, snacks, and activities are all provided by PTO.
