One School One Book Initiative
The Wild Robot
Read-A-Million Minutes kicked off on January 17 with an earlier start date this year. We are super excited to be participating in a reading initiative called One School One Book that promotes families reading together at home. Every family with an elementary student received a copy of the book The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. Families will get to read this book together over a six-week period that will conclude on Leap Day with a pizza party and school wide assembly. With the addition of two extra weeks and more minutes read at home, we have a legitimate chance of actually reading 1 Million Minutes this year.
We have many activities planned for RAMM including: different dress-up days, a book giveaway, DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time, reading buddies, Robot STEAM activities, a friendly classroom competition for the most minutes, and Family Reading Night.
Anyone can read extra! All family members, high-school students, WACO staff, and community members are welcome to read and turn in their minutes to: chad.mcclanahan@wacocsd.org.

WACO Schools will be hard surface roads starting on Wednesday and it goes through Friday. We are currently are on time for school on Wednesday. Thank you.
WACO HS basketball games at WMU tonight (1/16/24) have been postponed to Thursday, Jan. 25.
A quick reminder about snow make up days. We will have school this Friday, January 19th, as a snow make up day. We will also have school on February 2nd and 16th along with April 12th. Please add those dates to your calendars. Thank you!
WACO Schools will not have school on Monday, January 15th. The County is still working hard to clear roads and make them safe. Please use caution if you have to go out. Thank you.
SEISIA Honor Orchestra on Saturday (1/13/24) has been postponed to a date to be determined.
WACO High School basketball games at Wapello tonight (1/12/24) have been postponed to Monday, January 15.
WACO Girls wrestling at Mid Prairie on Saturday (1/13/24) has been postponed to Monday, January 15.
WACO Warrior Invitational, boys wrestling, on Saturday (1/13/24) has been postponed to Saturday, Febuary 3
A quick reminder before we get this next snow event! We missed two days this week and will make those days up next Friday,January 19th and Friday, February 2nd. I hope that helps you plan out next week. Stay safe this weekend as more snow is on its way.
WACO Girls Basketball at Iowa Valley tonight 1/11/24 will move the start time up to 5:00PM.
WACO Varsity Boys Wrestling Meet at Columbus for tonight 1/11/24 will also move start time up to 5:00PM.

Wednesday, 1/17: Chicken Strips, Mashed Potatoes, Brown Gravy, Winter Blend , WG Bread/Butter, Strawberries
Friday, 1/19: WG Italian Cheese Pull A Part, Spinach, Marinara Sauce, Green Peppers, Peaches.
WACO Schools will not have school on Wednesday, January 10th.

WACO Boys and Girls Basketball game at New London tonight 1/8/2024 have been postponed. The games will be made up on Monday, January 22nd 2024.
WACO Girls Varsity Wrestling Meet at Notre Dame High School for tonight 1/8/2024 has been cancelled.

The JH wrestling meet at Burlington Notre Dame has been cancelled for tonight (12/4/23). Notre Dame cancelled due to a water line break in their school. No makeup date has been determined at this time. JH wrestlers should go to practice after school.
The 6th grade classes celebrated their hard work from the first quarter with a pumpkin decorating party!

You just have to sign up and work concessions for Winter Sports and automatically be entered into a drawing!
